When announcements were made regarding the availability of newly designed and researched vaccinations against Covid-19, I was skeptical about the process and how safe it would be considering the lack of a long-term research study.
However, as the days went on I made a point of listening to the professionals (epidemiologists, scientists, doctors) and from what I was learning, I decided that I would trust their word as to the safety of the vaccinations.
As soon as my age group was eligible for the vaccination, I immediately made the appointments for my husband, my brother and myself.
On the day of the appointment, I was a little apprehensive about the process. I suffer from depression and anxiety and I don't like going out in public much so this experience was a little more than worrisome for me. I wondered whether it would be a long process? Would it be a cold and sterile environment with overly worked, cranky staff? If so, I would doubt that I would go back for a second jab.
However, upon entering the Q-plex facility, we were met with very friendly and helpful security personnel. Almost immediately, I felt at ease. We were directed to the pre-vaccination question desk and were met with a friendly and welcoming lady who asked the questions and then directed us to the registration area. Again, with smiles on their faces, they corroborated our registration appointments, medicare requirements, addresses, etc. There was no delay involved, questions asked and answered and then with a friendly wave we were directed to the vaccination area. Upon entry into the area, immediately we were assigned to the nurse who would be giving the vaccination. Again, friendly words of welcome were rendered and a brief explanation of the vaccination process. She then gave the shot - a jab I never felt which told me that she was more than experienced in giving shots. I thanked her for her efforts on behalf of all of us and for her professionalism.
The last step was to wait out the 15 minutes in the waiting area to ensure no adverse reaction to the needle. Everyone in the waiting area seemed to be relieved and happy that they had received their vaccination. It was a happy and enjoyable experience and one that took no more than a half-hour from entering the facility to leaving it.
Yesterday, I received the second vaccination and the experience was just a wonderful as the first.
I have only words of appreciation for all involved, including our government (Federal and Provincial) who have put its citizens first and have seen to the needs of the people before the almighty dollar!
I am truly grateful!
