Ambulatory Care

Horizon&rsquo;s Nutrition and Food Services team has been working towards an upgraded and standardized system. Part of this upgrade involves using an iPad to select meals at the patient bedside. Staff visit patients daily to obtain personal menu selections, using an iPad, which allows for flexibility and choice to tailor menu selections to personal preference.With this updated change in the ordering process, we want to understand the patient experience and level of satisfaction with menu choices and meals while admitted to a Horizon facility.Patient feedback is vital for us to continue to improve our service.Thank you.

Nutrition and Food Services

Horizon is committed to improving access to cultural supports, addressing systemic barriers and supporting the health care team in providing culturally safe, relevant and supportive care to Indigenous patients and their families. Studies show Indigenous people experience some of the highest incidences of systemic barriers while accessing and receiving health care worldwide. We want to hear about the lived experience of Indigenous patients and their families so we can identify opportunities for improvement to continue to build a health care system that is culturally safe and sensitive to the realities of Indigenous people. To address these barriers Horizon has established an Indigenous Health team that includes two Indigenous Patient Navigators (IPNs) for the Fredericton and Upper River Valley area and the Miramichi area. As well, we have a regional manager who oversees the programming and guides system changes through policy development, identifying and addressing systemic barriers. Horizon provides health care to people living on the traditional Wabanaki territory, part of which is what is now known as New Brunswick. We are working to improve services for Indigenous people living within and outside First Nation communities. Indigenous Health

Horizon&rsquo;s Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NNICU) provide the highest level of care for sick or premature infants. The unit also provides help to families during this stressful time, and prepares them for taking their infants home. Sometimes, if you are experiencing a high-risk pregnancy, members of the NNICU team will meet with you before the birth of your baby to discuss the care your baby may need and what you can expect after the baby is born. Each and every new parent has a unique labour and birth experience, but no matter how unique, we want to ensure our tiniest patients and their families receive the best care possible.
