Long wait times are experienced throughout our system ranging from long wait times in the emergency department, waiting lists for surgeries, and consultation with a specialist or a diagnostic test.
We understand that regardless of what kind of waiting you’re doing, it can be extremely frustrating and, in some cases, preventing you from getting back to your regular activities.
Improving all wait times is priority for Horizon and our staff is actively looking for ways to improve wait times in all areas.

More doctor's, nurse practitioner and rooms.
To help with wait time, we should have more doctor's and nurse practitioner working at the same time. We also need more room because I've waited 7hrs once to just get a bed. And waited over 9hrs to see a doctor. But I was more comfortable waiting in a bed than the ER waiting room.

Seperate waiting areas for sick and injured/noncontagious
This may be difficult but if there was a seperate waiting area for injury I believe that would make the experience better. I know germs are everywhere. However if the people that come in without a sickness are sitting next to someone coughing/puking/etc it only spreads the germs quicker (not everyone wears a mask like they should). This may be easier at the dech as it has 2 separate areas.

Decrease MRI Wait Times
Need for more MRI technologists in the province to decrease wait times. Offer education to existing technologists. Run the MRI scanner more than 8 hours a day to catch up and keep up.

Keep satellite sites open and their services running
Closing these services will only increase wait times as has already been shown by the services that have already been taken away from them.

The PRE-triage waiting area overflows and nobody knows who came first. A ticket system would prevent sick people from having to keep track.
